#2: Blue

Last week, we asked for photos that responded to the prompt “blue” - a colour, a verb, a state of mind. The photos received examine “blue” in our daily lives: in nature, in light, and the everyday objects we interact with. Davy Avina’s image beautifully captures the shades of blue that meet the eye - powder blue, sapphire blue, prussian blue - in the sea’s layered waters. Blue is the colour of hope, but also the colour of grief. MD Sumon’s image of a crane suspended at an empty work site hints at this paradox, exemplified by his caption: “Clouds in the blue sky / Float in the blue of the blue sky /  Play in the sun shade sometimes a little smile / There is suffering, there is happiness, there is so much pain / Fly from country to country / Sometimes it rains and tears fall.” The ambivalences of the colour “blue” is perhaps best epitomized in Ritchelle’s submission, "As an artist, I found that I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way; things I had no words for. I guess this is the reason why we don't see the world in black and white.”

Clouds in the blue sky

Float in the blue of the blue sky

Play in the sun shade sometimes a little smile

There is suffering, there is happiness, there is so much pain

Fly from country to country

Sometimes it rains and tears fall

Sometimes you think you'll be fine by yourself

'Cause a dream is a wish you make all alone

It’s easy to feel like you don't need help

But it’s harder to walk on your own

You'll change

Inside

When you

Realize

The world comes to life

And everything's bright

From beginning to end

When you have a faith

By your side

That helps you to find

The beauty of all

When you'll open your heart and

Believe in

If you're feeling blue today,

Doesn't mean it  will continues every day

Feel the blue-tiful things around,

Happiness found deep in our hearts... in the windows of our souls.. in violets blooming in blue ❤️

In a gloomy weather,

Blue stands out.

In this pandemic, be like the clip.

Hold on tight, and don't loosen your grip.

We may battling the unseen, but

Eventually, we will emerge as victory.

This chaos will soon disappear,

Like a bubble in the air.

As an artist, I found that I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn't say any other way; things I had no words for. I guess this is the reason why we don't see the world in black and white.

We are near yet so far! Pandemic put our patience to the utmost stretch. Soon, when everything's okay, we'll see each other again.

Little as you are but helpful

Help me tone my arms

And the upper part of my body

You are my companion

When i am alone

You know it when i’m silent

You fill the emptiness in my head

As i count one two three

And three two one

Today and everyday

You will be my friend.

It is not as lively as before

I don't hear laughter anymore.

Skyscrapers  are dark  at night

All the giants are hanging tight..

Under the clear blue sky.
