#1: Sky
Last week, we asked for photos relating to “Sky”. We received several submissions documenting everyone’s own glimpses of the sky: in a HDB flat, in the dormitory, in a community isolation center. The sky serves as a source of inspiration, even as we are trapped in isolation. We look up to the sky in prayer, faith and hope. In the words of poet Shy Lhen Esposo, who captioned her photograph with a beautiful poem, writing, “oh sky, gives me strength while / gazing at you way up high.” Another photographer, Ritchelle, urges us to “tune in to the sounds of liberty as you look up to the sky no matter where you are, there is always hope even between walls." The anticipation of a new day can bring much joy, but it can also bring distress. Poet-photographer SR Liton wrote (in an amusingly punny post), "Mom! i am sorry. i can't call you. I don't have main balance on my phone”. The sky becomes our listening ear, an intimate confidante that is at once univeral and personal. Perhaps its universality remains us of the artifice of the distinctions we make today between citizens and migrants - a product of our social imagination. In the words of Ruby Velasco, "We are under the sky... we we see the same moon”. The sky reminds us of our common humanity and shared presence; we co-exist within the same space, and we should embrace everyone within our community with love and kindness.
As spring unfolds under the skies of blue and fields of green, I'd like to share with you my unseen liberty. In this time of uncertainty I hope to inspire you to take the freedom to make a room fir a new growth. To let go of the negativity and make the most of each moment. Tune in to the sounds of liberty as you look up to the sky no matter where you are, there is always hope even between walls.

The sun rose. I have forgotten what day it is. But I know we'll meet again.

Blue sky, please don't be shy…
stay with me and shade my life
appear in my dreams and in reality
to see you nearer than my hopes. Sky, whether you are grey today,
I know you'll be blue again one day
just like the clouds underneath,
sometimes pure white
sometimes so dark...
Yet I knew, yes! I knew, that!
that you'd turned into blue,
beautiful blue sky....
oh sky, gives me strength while
gazing at you way up high.

From my archive of beautiful places where tourist and all flock in for a shot for memory, and it isn't obvious unless you saw our foreign worker friends working hard getting the road curb aligned and leved and the drain covers flushed. Its real work under the sun.. I guess, it’s time we seriously appreciate those hard work people.

Captured the sky from the window of my lady boss's room while I was cleaning.
After breakfast i went to the grocery shop and while waiting for bus to arrive, I captured the sky from the sides of the bus stop. The last one was when I was waiting to cross the road and standing at the traffic light under the train rails.
